i saw this book and fell in love with its simplicity. i also love it's use of color. i love the font! i love everything! the layout is simple and organized. the way that they use the image and color and everything together gives this a really retro feel too. It seems very 1940's or 50's esque.

this is just a magazine cover for Good Magazine. I just like the simplicity of the layout and that there is more detail in the right corner of the cover but not overwhelming the front image. I just am attracted tomagazines, and i would love to be an art director for a magazine when i'm established..(thinking something vanity fair or martha stewart....)--my dream jobs!

truthfully i dont remember where i saw these. It was out of a magazine or an ad that i scanned a while ago and lost. (probably how or GDUSA) I love the simple typography and the fact that they are silkscreened onto the bottle. I like that they are super simple and clean and to the point. is it bad to really only like work that isn't busy looking?

this is a creative poster i found online actually browsing a design award contest. it is the winner of the past year. the poster is for hte rock and roll hall of fame in cleveleand. the photography is simple and meaningful. you get it.the typography is somewhat script and handwritten so it's shown as casual which is what this ad is about. this guy in comfortable.

this is actually a party i got invited too, like a tupperware, but something completely different....it's basically like this company that prints words, sayings or anything and then you transfer them onto a wall. It's typography as wall art. I like this concept, I would put these on my walls if i had my own house. It would be hard for me to decide what i wanted to put on. The typography can be as simple or as complex as you want. I was attracted to this because i LOVE typography.

these are water bottles. i love the simplicity and cleanliness of the design. the typography is elegant and clean. I am attracted to the simpleness of them. It just seems fresh (which is the point)

I found this in GDUSA July/Aug 07. I liked it because it's fun for being a boring Annual Report. I liked the pic and then read the text and saw it was from the school i went to/am going back to in Chicago. cool! hte type is clean and simple and i love the overpowering image. i dont even know what a presidents report is but i wanna read this!

this is a logo for a dog groomer. freakin adorable! i saw it in How. The style is very simple. there is actually no type on this logo. I wish they showed it with type in the magazine. the quality is very clean and professional. It seems very old fashioned and classic too. i love it!

This is actually a poster to not throw away old stuff, but to donate it to schools for art supplies etc. This was from a design awards website. I like the asymmetrical balance and i love the way the image is cut off, to reveal the text. the style of type is very clean and organized.

I like the creative headline. It defiantly grabs you attention. People are attracted to vulgarness. It definatly has the "whoa" factor because as ur flipping thru you have to wonder why they're saying this in a magazine ad. (I.D. July/Aug 07). I'm not really that fond of the crazy colors in the ad, but i like the distorted images that are overlaid by the colored lines. This ad is for Lenart Studios. A design firm that obviously gets very close to their clients and meets their demands. The design in laid out in a grid like format and has asymmetrical balance. The typography is fairly simple. (i dont know what font that is)--something similar to Helvetica?

This is a billboard for McDonalds. I love the 3-D creativity. i would have never thought of this. I saw it on the internet. The design is very colorful. The typography is very simple. All there is is the M logo. My favorite part is the pole looks like a straw. It's too show that the milkshake is THICK. The design is mostly creative photography.

This is an illustration from an advertisement. I love the simplicity of it. It is only in black and white. I found it in GD USA magazine. (July/August '07). It's function is to sell paper for Mohawk Company. The style is overall clean in the simple layout (gridlike) and the type is clean too. I was also attracted to the blue background color.

This is from Print Magazine. (march/april 07) I like this type of design because it uses typography to make form and shapes. The style is diverse. It ranges from Russian posters to a modern movie poster just in the examples. I think that it's very creative and i love the style.

This is a poster for a Design Festival in Berlin. It is to promote designers to attend this festival. I saw it online. The style is SO simple and yet so eye grabbing. It shows hte best example of good design and how good design should be. (simple, elegant, clean) The illustration is my favorite part. The type is simple and clean too. The quality is perfect. Timeless. Just perfect.

This is an ad for Insight Communications. I actually got it in the mail. The style is very modern along with the modern typography. It is very organized and balanced. I was attracted to the design probably from the contrast in the colors and shapes of plus, minus and equals sign. Posted are the front of the pamphlet and part of the inside pages.

This is my inspiring post of the week. It is a billboard I got off a design website (AdCom's BILLBOARDOM) It's a collection of outdoor creations and designs. I find it inspiring because my Project 1 is going to be for Sweet Indulgences Bakery in Champaign. I would love to be able to think of a creative 3-D way to promote their bakery, cakes, and drinks. This ad is for Royal brand Icing. 9/2005.

these are actually bags from Saks Fifth Avenue. I dont think i have ever been there but i know i saw a lot of people walking around with the bags in chicago. these are black and white too! i didnt even realize i like B&W stuff so much! that's probably why i liked this image and also how they took the logo and distorted it, leaving it like a puzzle, (like my CD project) wow...i'm learning so much about myself.

just a piece of the logo is on the front of the bag, then the entire logo is shown on teh side panel so people can figure out where teh bag is from. (the solution to hte puzzle.

this was another another example from the BABY GD usa. they recreated a favorite in classroom to look more modern. I love the use of the color and page layout. I'm attracted to this b/c i think i want to work more in the print/publishing/magazine industry. the Weekly Reader was also one of my favorite parts of school growing up so it was nice to remember it.

This is an AD for portfolio center. GD USA Feb 07. I find this ad very attractive because of the black and white (i think i'm starting to find my style of what i like) I think the typography is good layout is nice...it's just an overall great ad for the school. maybe i wanna go there....

this is actually the credits for the March/APR ID magazine. I just loved the use of type and typography and layout of the credits. I cant even really explain why i like it so much i was just drawn to it multiple times so i decided to put it in here. it is important design too.

this is a cd package design for China Shadow Project. It's from china which is one thing i love about gds is that you can see design from all over the world and compare and contrast. I love how the case folds, it seems very easy to recreate but i am sure it would be very hard!

i love these colors for their high contrast. they look like the thumbnails from GDS 108 and make brilliant covers. they are so simple they make you really look at them. i also love how they are just black and white. you dont see that often anymore.

Baby Owners Manual.
In gd usa they had a whole section of baby stuff. like how target developed and soooo much GD attention has now been toward baby things more now. I just love the instruction book cover and also the inside page with the simple baby parts labeled. it's so comical but i'm sure very helpful at the same time. it's made fun by the fun graphics.

Hotel 43's logo is very simple seeming but you can just tell that a lot of efford went into makeing this good design (HOW 2007 Design Annual)

the bold #43 stands out so well and would be very recognizable. i love the handwritten style of hte "hotel" it's just a comforting yet clean logo. very modern.

i absolutely LOVE the font and typography on the envelope. I'm working on developing my own stationary/business cards and i plan on using this as inpirtation.

this is a brochure. i cannot even tell what exactally it is used for, but in the brocure i love the usage of illustration in the pasily-like details that overlay the photography of birds flying. It is titled "Suprise, nothing less."

i mostly love these target ads, celebrated in HOW, by their creative photography. the couples getting married are holding items that they placed on their registry. the ads themselves seem to host somehting borrowed, blue, and new. wow!

i first noticed this good design at Meijer. supermarkets were made for graphic designers. (this was takin from a design mag. HOW) i love the reflective foil surface. it's almost a hollogram. which is even more unique by the retro flowers in retro 60's colors on it

this is a great coffee label design because it's not something I would personally expect to see on a coffee lable. the colors are red and blue??? not brown or black.... something says this may not be right, but then, i realize that as artists we should not just stick with what is "normal" or expected! even tho i pretty much hate orange. the color gives me some sort of motivation(al) feel. alright i dont know the right words. BUT the typography flipped and also two sets of thinking bubbles causes your eye to take a double take.

even upside down you can read think...but then you go back and were like "oh.....was that upside down?"

this is an example of good business cards. this is for a photography studio the card is perferated so you can remove the cropping devies and have your own. there were a few styles of this for letterhead too. how creative. this could probably be classifed as some sort of packaging design too.

This is a logo from GRIDER and COMPANY. It is an accounting business. I love the use of numbers to make up the word "grider"...very creative! I also love the use of space and how there is lots of contrast between the black and white color usage.

This is a book cover I found in ID magazine. (March/April 2007). The book is a biography on Florence Broadhurst. I see unity from color and lots of balance from the huge white flower at the top contrasts with the white label with white typography at the bottom and looks REALLY nice.

This is a logo for the City of Evanston (Chicago)'s Park and Recreation Department. It shows overall unity from the emphasis in the size of the E and the solid bright color of green. The E is almost consuming the leaf. I think that I've seen this logo before when I lived in Chicago last semester, or maybe because one of my friends is from Evanston.

This is a promotional design for a fashion show. It was done by Misha Design Studio for Lasell Institute for Fashion Technology. I found this in the book "The Art of Design" by Cheryl Dangel Cullen,

I like the simplicity of the black and white and the nice organization of the ad (posted on the left) The overall style is very unified and pleasing to the eye.

This is a two part ad from How magazine. The ad is for Wausau papers. I enjoy this advertisement because of the classic 1940's-esque feel. Also, it is hard to tell by this scan but the woman's dress is a composed of a different type of paper which makes it look and feel 3-D.
I am aesthetically attracted to the use of color and space in these ads. The overall style is most inspiring.
